Committee

Mission
The Northwest Regional Women in Computing Celebration focuses on empowering and encouraging women to enter the STEM fields particularly computer science. Supported by the Anita Borg Institute and Grace Hopper Consortium, the conference brings together female students from high schools and universities, and joins them with university faculty and industry professionals in order to stimulate their interest in in computing.

The 2013 conference, to be held in April, is the second annual event. Our goal is to improve women’s experience in computing education and to encourage women to enter technical jobs. With less than 30% of STEM jobs filled by females, industry is lacking full representation of the world’s views. This is discouraging and inhibits industry’s full potential. Our effort recognizes women who are part of the computing industry and celebrates all who are supporters of them.

Is this conference still on for October? I don’t see any sponsors. I want to encourage my students to attend.
